Sheikh Saud honours participants in fencing seminar
QNOC secretary general HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdurrahman witnessed on Tuesday the awards ceremony of the participants in a fencing seminar which was organised by the Qatar Fencing Association with full co-operation from the International Olympic Solidarity Committee.

His Excellency assured that the Qatar Fencing Association was aiming to boost Qatari fencing talent till it reached international standards during the coming years. He also added that this seminar was the first to be held by the Qatar Fencing Association, and this would re-evaluate Qatari manpower responsible for the organisation in the future. HE Sheikh Saud in addition to being the QNOC secretary general also happens to be the Qatar Fencing
Association president. Mr Michel Brand, technical expert of the International Fencing Federation, and Ali bin Haj, technical expert in the Qatar Fencing Association, gave lectures at the seminar.
"The FIE officials visited Doha in January and inspected all the facilities and returned satisfied," he said. "We are indeed happy to host this event which will be first of its kind in the Middle East." Egypt had earlier hosted a junior category event.
"We are keen to promote fencing as a sport HE Sheikh Saud thanked members of the association for their efforts in holding the seminar, and also those who had participated in the seminar.
The ceremony started with a speech by Abdullah Johar al-Ali, secretary general of the association. Al-Ali thanked the council members Khalid Ali al-Yazeedi, Adnan Assada, Khalid al-Abdul Jabbar, Khalid Mohannadi, Fahad al-Mulla, Ahmed Gamal. HE Sheikh Saud gave graduation certificates to 16 participants in the seminar and also delivered a message to be conveyed to Ronny Rock of the International Fencing Association through Mr Brand.
