Fencing
camp for Qatar team in Kuwait
The
Qatar fencing team left Doha yesterday for a coaching
camp in Kuwait which will prepare them for taking part
in international competitions. The camp was planned
in co-ordination with the Kuwaiti fencing association.
A busy schedule lies ahead for the team with many friendly
tussles involved during their stay there. They are likely
to fence with al-Qadsiya, al-Salmiya, Alyarmoukh
and al-Jahrah club members. All age categories will
participate in the matches.

Saud honours participants in fencing seminar
QNOC
secretary general HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdurrahman witnessed
on Tuesday the awards ceremony of the participants in
a fencing seminar which was organised by the Qatar Fencing
Association with full co-operation from the International
Olympic Solidarity Committee.His Excellency assured
that the Qatar Fencing Association was aiming to boost
Qatari fencing talent till it reached international
standards

Cup logo unveiled
A
new accomplishment is witnessed at the Middle
East sport capital of Doha. In January 2004, the
Qatar Fencing Association will namely host the
World Fencing Cup (Epee)THE Qatar National Olympic
Committee (QNOC) General Secretary and Qatar Fencing
Association President, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman
al-Thani yesterday formally unveiled the logo
of World Fencing Cup (Epee), which will be hosted
by Qatar on January 10 and 11, 2004.
The International Fencing Federation (FIE), in
its general assembly, unanimously voted in favour
of Qatar as a host of this

Doha
to Host The World Fencing Cup
A
new accomplishment is witnessed at the Middle
East sport capital of Doha. In January 2004, the
Qatar Fencing Association will namely host the
World Fencing Cup (Epee).
Mr.
Rene Roch, President of the International Fencing
Federation (FIE), received the proposal to organise
the event during a visit to Doha he made in January
2002. The FIE President expressed his trust in
Qatar and in the QNOC officials, and put the proposal
on the agenda of the FIE meeting held in Portugal,
last August.

Organising
Committee formed for first GCC fencing tournament
The
inaugral meeting of the commitee was presided
by sheikh Saoud Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, Secretary
General of Qatar National Olympic Committee and
President of Qatar Fencing Association. It was
also attended by Sheikh Hassan Bin Abdullah Al-thani
and Ali Yusuf, Chairman of the Kuwait Fencing
Association.

Fencing
Federation of Qatar prepares for Asian Games 2002
Noted
coach and expert in fencing, Ali Belhaj has been
appointed to train the Qatari team. He has launched
a multi-faced programme to make fencing popular
and attract as much public attention as possible.
The history and the art of fencing is being projected
in an impressive media campaign in clubs and schools,
besides organisizing local tournaments for various
age groups.

Qatar
is to hold International Fencing Tournament in 2003
The
President of the International Fencing Federation
Rene Roch of France has hailed the tremendous
potential that Qatar can very easily organize
international tournaments in fencing. Qatar's
Fencing Association, he said, is taking rapid
strides in developing the art of fencing in spite
of the fact that the association was recently
established.

Asian fencing body
Office-bearers
announced
THE
Qatar Fencing Association participated in a meeting
held in Tabriz, Iran on July 12, wherein the formation
of the Fencing Federation for West Asia was announced.
Khalid Abdul Jabbar and Fahad Al-Mulla members
of the Board of the Qatar Fencing Federation attended
this meeting.
